I did this to test Israel—to see whether or not they would follow the ways of the Lord as their ancestors did.”
These are the nations that the Lord left in the land to test those Israelites who had not experienced the wars of Canaan. He did this to teach warfare to generations of Israelites who had no experience in battle.
These people were left to test the Israelites—to see whether they would obey the commands the Lord had given to their ancestors through Moses.
But he knows where I am going. And when he tests me, I will come out as pure as gold.
However, when ambassadors arrived from Babylon to ask about the remarkable events that had taken place in the land, God withdrew from Hezekiah in order to test him and to see what was really in his heart.
2 Chronicles 32:31
Put me on trial, Lord, and cross-examine me.Test my motives and my heart.
For everyone will be tested with fire.
Examine yourselves to see if your faith is genuine. Test yourselves. Surely you know that Jesus Christ is among you; if not, you have failed the test of genuine faith.
2 Corinthians 13:5
So be truly glad. There is wonderful joy ahead, even though you have to endure many trials for a little while. These trials will show that your faith is genuine. It is being tested as fire tests and purifies gold—though your faith is far more precious than mere gold. So when your faith remains strong through many trials, it will bring you much praise and glory and honor on the day when Jesus Christ is revealed to the whole world.
1 Peter 1:6-7
For you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow.
I’m so glad that he tests me!
